Operatives attached to the intelligence unit of the Nige State police command have arrested a 50-years-old man Umasr(surname withheld), in connection with the plan to abduct some worshippers inside a church at Buku village , in Abaji Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory(FCT),Abuja.
This was revealed in a press statement issued and made available to newsmen by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the State , DSP Wasiu Abiodun.
According to the police spokesperson, the suspect was arrested at about 11:20 am , while acting on a tip-off on the plan to kidnap some worshippers in a church in the FCT on November 21.
Abiodun said during interrogation , the suspect confessed being the spiritual leader to some bandits hibernating in the FCT , Niger and Nassarawa States.
The statement added that during the suspects’s last conversation with his gang on the same date at about 7:20a.m, he directed them to go ahead with the operation and assured them of success.
The suspect was also said to have promised to pray for the release of a suspected bandit known as Julli, who is currently in police custody in Abuja..
