Some unknown gunmen on Monday morning attacked the  Otoko Police Divisional Headquarters on the Owerri-Umuahia Expressway in Imo State. Two officers were injured In a report by LEADERSHIP newspaper, the gunmen invaded the station around 3a.m shooting sporadically which caused panic for residents.

 

” Nobody could sleep or wink during the attack with heavy exchange of gunfire and explosions till it lasted and people scampered to escape  for their safety.

 

 

However with the gallant effort of the police operatives,the Invaders were resisted.

 

 

“When the shooting stopped And some  of us dared to go and confirm the extent of  the  invasion,it was gratifying to see that the station was standing because the police  were able torepel the gunfire,although two police officers were seen to be badly wounded”.leadership wrote.

 

 

Meanwhile the Imo State Police Command spokesman Michael Abattam,has confirmed the attack even as he maintained that no life was lost.

 

 

Abattam said “apart from the minimal damage on the transit camp and a vehicle. No life was lost.However, the police operatives who sustained gunshot wound had been treated”.

 

He therefore called on the public to provide information on anyone treating bullet wounds.
