Troops nab terror suspects, informant, rescue kidnap victims in fresh North-East operations

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have arrested suspected terrorists and an informant, rescued kidnapped victims and recovered explosive devices during a series of coordinated operations across the North-East.

The update was contained in a statement issued by the Nigerian Army and signed by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, on May 4 2026.

According to the statement, troops operating in Ngamdu, Yobe State, arrested two suspects identified as Haruna Adamu 32 year old and Ibrahim Adamu 20, during ongoing security operations in the area. Items recovered from them include mobile phones, a power bank, identification card, suspected illicit substances, and charms.

In a separate operation, troops of 254 Battalion arrested a suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP informant, Ali Muhammad 30 year old, at Ngamdu Market. He was reportedly on a watchlist and was found with cash, a mobile phone, identification cards, charms, a knife, and a notebook containing contacts believed to be linked to terrorist elements.

“The suspect has been handed over to Sector 2 Headquarters for further interrogation,” the statement said.

Troops operating around the Mubi axis of Adamawa State arrested five suspected drug peddlers during a night operation. Ammunition and other items were recovered from the suspects, who are currently in custody.

In Madagali Local Government Area, troops working with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force responded to a kidnapping incident and rescued two victims, Barnabas Apagu 12 year old and Ruth Apagu 10. Efforts are ongoing to rescue others still in captivity.

Meanwhile, in Kukareta area of Yobe State, troops recovered a hand grenade suspected to have been abandoned by fleeing terrorists. The explosive was safely secured in line with standard procedures.

The military said those arrested in the different operations have been handed over to appropriate authorities for further investigation, while operations continue across the region.
