The Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, who also is the All Progressives Congress candidate in the forthcoming gubernatorial election on 16th July 2023 has cleared the air on the issue of the Osun helicopter bought by his predecessor, Rauf Aregbesola in 2015.
Ogbeni Aregbesola’s administration purchased the controversial helicopter with about N500,000,000.00(Five Hundred Million Naira) for the purpose of tackling the security challenges in the state.
This situation had generated hues and cries across the state, as some claimed that the helicopter has been converted to personal use by the ex-governor Aregbesola and members of his family during his time in office, while some were of the opinion that the helicopter has been sold after Aregbesola’s exit at the government house.
Perhaps, this scenario had led to the question asked by one of the governorship aspirants in Osun State, the PDP Senator Ademola Adeleke at the last Governorship Debate organized by the BBC Yoruba held at the Aurora Events Centre, Osogbo and monitored by TheInterviewsNigeria on the Rave FM radio.
While responding to this question, Governor Oyetola said emphatically that the helicopter is still very much on the ground but not in a good condition.
According to the governor, the helicopter is at present with the company in charge of its repairs
