An announcement was made on Tuesday by the Osun State Government of shutting down indefinitely the Central Mosque Inisa in the
Odo-Otin Local Government Council area
This drastic decision of shutting down the mosque was a sequel to the inability of the Muslim faithful in the community to peacefully install a new Imam for the mosque.
This action was brought to light in a public service announcement signed by Prince Abdullah Adeyanju Buyo, the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, and made available to newsmen in Osogbo. The announcement also stressed that any central congregation has also been banned.
‘’Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, as part of efforts to ensure the security of lives and properties in that axis of the state, directed that the Central Mosque be shut indefinitely to forestall the further religious or communal crisis .’’Already, the Mosque has recorded the death of two Imams in quick succession.’’
This directive will be in place until a reconciliatory process towards amicable resolution is attained,’’, it concluded.
The state government is therefore advising the public to be guided by this directive as security operatives have been deployed to Inisa town to enforce the closure and ban on Eid prayers.
