Schools in Uganda have fully re -opened this morning, almost two years after Coronavirus pandemic began.

This has been one of the world’s longest closures since the virus forced governments to close academic institution s back in March,2020.

Students will be promoted to the next class and there will be targeted work to give to them a chance to catch up.

Uganda National Planning Authority projected that at least 30 percent of all students who were in schools before the pandemic may never return.

Here are some snapshots of the first day in school taken by BBC’s Patience Atuhaire in Kampala.
