The country’s Apex court on Thursday has affirmed that the Governor-elect of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke was duly nominated as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in the July 16 governorship primary election in the State.
In a unanimous judgement by a five-man panel of Justices , on Thursday dismissed the appeal filled against Ademola Adeleke by Prince Dotun Babayemi,who also contested a parallel governorship primary election of the party in Osun State.
The Interviews Nigeria recalls that Senator Adeleke won the primary election conducted at the town’s stadium , while Babayemi , also emerged as the winner of the primary election conducted in a different venue by his faction.
Counsel to the Appellant , Mr. Adebayo Adelodun (SAN) withdrew the appeal after the panel led by Justice Amina Augie drew his attention t the fact that the case was statute barred.
The Panel had maintained that the appeal was incompetent , affirming that it was filed outside the 14 days period provided by law.
On May 18, 2022, in his judgement, Justice Nathaniel Ayo-Emmanuel of the Federal High Court , Osogbo, had upheld the governorship primary election that produced Senator Adeleke.
In the same vein, the Court of Appeal , Akure Division , in his judgement of 20 July on the appeal filed against the Federal High Court , Osogbo, affirmed the judgement of the lower court and therefore dismissed the case .
There has been wild jubilations at the Ede country home of the governor-elect , singing and dancing just after the supreme court verdict was in favour of Ademola Adeleke (Governor –Elect).
