The Oyo State Government has sealed off five Bakeries and Eatries in the Oyo State capital, Ibadan for non-registration of premises with the Ministry of Health and Non- hygienic environment, training of staff and staff not medically capable to handle food for public consumption
The Director of food, water, water, and laboratory services, Mrs. Afusat Akande, who led the team of inspectors to seal the bakeries and eateries, said the businesses were sealed off after several visits and warnings to comply with the regulations that govern food business in the State.
Mrs. Akande said, “increasingly people now eat out and buy confectioneries, and because of this, ensuring that those were wholesome for consumption, the Oyo State Ministry of Health intends to enforce compliance based on the State’s2012 regulations on food, water, and related products.
She said, “the department has to make sure that whatever we consume is wholesome, so we are out to enforce the 2012 regulations on food, water, and related products; it is a major concern to the government”.
