The Enugu State Command police has arrested a native doctor for killing his client in his shrine while testing the gunshot protection charm he had prepared for him.

The native doctor was one of 17 people arrested and paraded for conspiracy, murder, armed robbery, truck snatching, abduction, and unlawful possession of  firearms in recent times in the state.

This was contained in a statement released on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, by the State’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe.

Items recovered from the suspects include two firearms, one live cartridge, three mock guns, a Sino Truck loaded with 789 bags of cement, mobile phones, ATM cards, and other items.

In a related development, one Idowu Talabi said to be a native doctor, has allegedly killed his 30-year-old co-tenant, Isau Oluwatobiloba, in Ogun State.

It was learnt that the suspect was arrested by the police on Sunday, following a report lodged at the Ikenne Division.

The wife of the victim had reported that she returned from a Church vigil at about 6 am to find the lifeless body of her husband in a pool of his blood.

It was gathered that the man was macheted to death while sleeping on his bed at 4, Best Way Moro Street, Ikenne, Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Upon the report, the DPO of Ikenne division, CSP Ibrahim Ningi, led his detectives to the scene, where it was discovered that there was no break-in at the scene and nothing was removed from the room where the victim was killed.

“This discovery pointed to the fact that the killing was carried out by an insider, hence all the occupants of the house were invited to the station for interrogation,” the Ogun police spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said on Tuesday.

According to Oyeyemi, Idowu Talabi confessed after a thorough investigation, that he killed the deceased.

Asked to give a reason for his action, Talabi was quoted as saying that his victim was fond of accusing him of stealing.

This, he said, infuriated him to the point of macheting Oluwatobiloba to death when he knew that the deceased was home alone sleeping.

“The cutlass he used to commit the crime has since been recovered,” Oyeyemi revealed.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has ordered the transfer of the suspect to the homicide section of the State CIID for further investigation and prosecution.
