Regular services at the US Embassy and Consulate General are expected to resume after the observance of these significant events this week
The US Embassy in Abuja and the Consulate General in Lagos have announced their closure today, January 20, 2025.
The temporary closure was announced on January 19 via the US Mission in Nigeria’s X handle.
The closures will be in observance of Martin Luther King Jr Day and the American Presidential Inauguration.

“The U.S. Embassy Abuja and Consulate General Lagos will be closed on Monday, January 20, to commemorate #MLKDay and the U.S. Presidential Inauguration.” See the X post below: The notice informed the public of the temporary closure and also indicated that regular services would resume the following day.
