POWA National President , Dr (Mrs) Egbetokun Visits Osun State, Empowers Families Of Deceased Officers

The wife of the Inspector General of Police(IGP) Mrs Egbetokun, who also doubles as the National President of the Police wives Association(POWA) was on Thursday on a one-day working visit to Osun State.

During the august visit, Dr. Elizabeth Egbetokun empowered deceased officers’ wives with a lot of items ranging from sewing machines, bags of rice, make –up tools, Grinding machines among others.

While presenting the items to the beneficiaries at the Police Headquarters, Osogbo, Dr.( Mrs) Egbetokun said she was on her working visit to the state to support and empower the wives of the law enforcement officers.

Dr.(Mrs) Egbetokun implored the women beneficiaries to engage in agriculture in order to contribute their quotas to agricultural development in the country.

She also encouraged the widows in attendance to utilize their resources and skills and engage in farming to enhance food , nutrition and security in Nigeria through The Young Women in Agriculture (YWA) initiative for Rural Women in Agriculture.

In her words, Mrs Egbetokun says,’’ Am encouraging women to venture into farming through ‘’Young Women in Agriculture (YWA) Initiative under the police officers ‘ wives Association(POWA) to promote food security in our country’’.

‘’It’s with great pleasure that Iam here before you today as The National President of the Police Officers’ wives Association (POWA) representing the dedicated spouses of our nation’s law enforcement officers’’.

‘’As we embark on this working visit to the Osun State Police Command , I extend my warmest gratitude to the Commissioner of Police , Osun State Command –CP Umar Abba Muhammed for hosting us’’.

‘’The women of POWA are the unsung heroes behind the badge , providing unwavering support to our spouses as they uphold the law and protect our communities. Our Association serves as a vital network of support , fostering unity, resilience , and empowerment among police families nationwide.’’

While acknowledging the leadership acumen of CP Umar Abba, she says,’’CP Umar Abba Muhammed ,your leadership is pivotal in ensuring the safety and security of Osun State , and we commend your tireless efforts in this regard. Together, we can further strengthen the bond between law enforcement and the communities they serve’’.

‘’I look forward to fruitful discussions and partnerships that will benefit the brave men and women of the Osun State Police Command . Let us continue to stand united in our commitment to building a safer, stronger, and more resilient communities ‘’,she echoed.

Items distributed to empower the widows and the less privileged include :Grinding Machines, Sewing Machines, Make-up Tools, Dryers, hundreds of 25kg bags of rice and other valuable materials.
