|* *Expresses optimism to win at both the Appeal & Supreme Courts.*
Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has described the outcome of the Osun election petition Tribunal as a temporary miscarriage of justice which will not see the light of day.
Governor Adeleke stated this at a stakeholders meeting held with the executives, Chieftains and members of the Peoples’ Democratic Party at the State Party Secretariat, Ikirun Road, Osogbo.
Governor Adeleke who was looking his usual ever-confident and smiling self also described the judgement as lacking in any known judicial substance saying the outcome will not in any way dissuade him from carrying out his usual constitutionally assigned roles and responsibilities of being the duly elected governor of the people of Osun state.
While calling on all and sundry in the state to remain calm, resolute and unperturbed by the shoddy and shocking judgement, , the Osun helmsman told his audience at the meeting that his party(the PDP), is battle ready to challenge the judgment at the appeal Court to reclaim his mandate.
Notwithstanding the present development which he described as temporal, Adeleke vowed that his administration will continue to give people the much sought dividends of democracy, which eluded them in the past, especially during the immediate past administration.
Senator Adeleke however enjoined members of the PDP and the people of the state in general not to be discouraged by the outcome of the Tribunal, but to embark on serious campaigns as usual as a way of consolidating on the winning streaks of the PDP in the next elections.
Earlier in his opening address, the PDP Caretaker Committee Chairman in Osun, Dr Akindele Adekunle appreciated Governor Adeleke, party members and Osun People for their steadfastness in standing by the party at all times.
The state PDP Chairman noted that the party had been able to show its power and strength across the State the day the judgment was delivered as people completely denounced and condemned the verdict of the election petition tribunal.
He described the court judgement as not only an aberration but null and void which will not stand the test of time.
Dr Akindele, therefore, charged the party faithful to be committed to the ideals of going all out in large numbers with a view to winning the forthcoming general elections.
In their separate goodwill messages, Senator Adenigba Fadahunsi, Former Deputy Speaker, the Federal House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Lasun Yusuf and Hon. Wole Oke among others noted that the July 16 Governorship election in Osun remains solid and sacrosanct as it was the day the people of Osun state openly declared their love and overwhelming support for Governor Adeleke as their governor.
Earlier In his remarks, the Director General of, the Presidential Campaign Council, PDP, Osun state chapter, Hon. Sunday Bisi explained the readiness of the party to get the people of Osun state liberated from the shackles of the immediate past APC-led administration in Osun state, stressing that it is only the PDP that gives people the true face of democracy.
Just like governor Adeleke had earlier admonished in his remarks, Hon. Bisi also called on all and sundry to remain peaceful, steadfast and resolute by not allowing last week Friday’s outcome of the election petition tribunal to affect them in any way.
The highlight of the meeting was when the duo of Barristers Niyi Owolade and Kolapo Alimi professionally interpreted the judgment of the election petition tribunal to the party chieftains and members who were at the meeting with a declaration that, it will not, in any way, stand the test of any known electoral laws.
