Osun State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Tola Faseru has disclosed the interest of the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke to create central Abattoirs in all Local Government Areas of the State for proper inspection and well-processed meat for the consumption of the people.
The Commissioner stated this at the official handing-over ceremony of a meat van donated to the Osun State Butchers’ Association by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in collaboration with the Osun State Government, which was held in the Ministry Conference Hall, Abere.
Mr. Faseru stressed that Governor Adeleke is interested in agricultural development as one of the major keys in his 5- 5-point agenda, pointing out that within a few months of his administration, he has made a remarkable impact in the Agricultural sector, especially in the Veterinary profession.
In their separate remarks, Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture and OSSADEC, Hon. Akanfe Atidade and the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs Adegbemisola Fayoyin appreciated the State Government for her total support for the growth of Agriculture in Osun, while enjoining the Butchers to use the meat van solely for the purpose for which it was donated
While signing the Memorandum of Understanding between the two parties, Director, of the Department of Veterinary Services in the Ministry, Dr. (Mrs) Olatokun explained that inspected and well-processed meat easily gets contaminated when exposed through the use of unguided and improper transportation systems, hence, the need for the Association to abide by the instructions of using meat van.
In his words of appreciation, the Chairman, of the Association of Butchers in Osun, Alhaji Adebimpe thanked both the State and Federal Governments for remembering the Association, promising that they will not let them down.
While speaking, Mr Aladeowo Toyin and Alhaji Kamorudeen appealed to the Osun Government to come to their aid by giving the Association more recognition, creating more abattoirs and ensuring proper monitoring of their members. The duo enjoined the State Government to fulfil all its promises to the Association.
