…..Visits the scene, promises to compensate the family
Shocked by the recent road mishap which claimed the life of Mrs. Fanimokun Ogunmokun, a staff of the University of Ilesa, Osun State, the administration of Senator Ademola Adeleke described the incident as shocking and fortunate.
While on a condolence visit to the deceased family iin Ijebu Jesha, Osun State Government delegation led by the Commissioner for Transporyation, Hon. Sesan Oyedele and his counterpart from Agriculture, Hon. Tola Faseru as well as
Special Adviser on Transportation, Hon. Yakubu Adejare, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Mr Isiaka Yahaya, SSA on Transportation, Hon. Hamid Adewale among others implored the family to take heart.
The delegation which also visited the scene of the accident at the University of Ilesa main campus and the police station before proceeding to the residence of the deceased in Ijebu-Jesa where they met with the husband, children and other family members assured of Adeleke led administration to assist the family ,who until her death, was a staff of the University of Ilesha.
Speaking ,Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Sesan Oyedele who described the incident as a sad one assured that Governor Adeleke is doing everything morally and officially possible to forestall such an occurrence in future.
While admonishing theb family of the victim to take heart and see the incident as the will of God, the Commissioner explained that the occurrence was an accident which could happen to anyone at anytime, urging them not to put the blame on any individual.
Hon. Oyedele appealed for calm among protesting students and other residents, stressing that the State government feels their pain, especially that such an accident claimed the life of a woman who has served the State meritoriously.
While explaining that Government is already taking steps to ensure that such never happens again, the Transportation Commissioner assured the family of the victim that Government will do the needful in ensuring that the husband and children of the victim are not left alone.
In his words, “On behalf of the Osun State government, I commiserate with the family and friends of Mrs. Fanimokun Ogunmokun, over the unfortunate incident.
“Honestly, it is a fact that, we must do something about heavy trucks plying our roads, especially those carrying containers which can fall off at any time.” Ended the Commissioner.
While speaking, the first son of the deceased, Mr Fanimokun Samuel thanked Governor Ademola Adeleke for his compassion and support to the family at this time over the loss of their mother.
He said the immediate step taken by the Governor in raising a powerful delegation to visit the family was a testament to the fact that he is a kind- hearted leader with compassion for residents of the State.
