The former Lagos State Governor and current Housing and works Minister,Babatunde Raji Fashola has revealed his intention to quit active politics and public Service in 2023.
Fashola made this declaration recently while responding to PUNCH question,why he did not join the bandwagon with the people jostling for 2023 presidency.
According to him,he would be going to his home after leaving office a. Minister in 2023.
Fashola said,”I told you I’m contesting for the presidency of my home town,I’m going home “.
You see,,next year, I will be 35 years since I left school,1978 to 2023.So, if I took a public service career,I will retire next year,because the rule is 35 years of service or 60 years of age,and coincidentally, by next year, I will be 60 years
Fashola also added that he was leaving the stage for much younger persons to come into the system and make their marks
According to the former Lagos State Governor Fashola, ” I came in at 39.I’n going to at 60.Let some 30-year-olds too come and start their journeys. It’s time to go .”
However, the former Governor expressed the believe that he would continue to serve the Nation in the future after retirement.
In his views,he will no longer requires a title to contribute and serve the Nation after2023.
