An 18 year old woman,Fatima Alhaji Bukar was strangled to death in her husband home in Maiduguri,Borno State.

According to Daily Trust, the gory homicide of 18-year-old Fatima Alhaji Bukar in her marital residence in Maiduguri remains a shock to the residents of Borno State’s capital.

Her father, Hon. Bukar Abatcha, a member of the Borno House of Assembly, expressed his reliance on divine intervention while remaining open to the police’s ongoing investigation.

According to neighbors and security sources, the incident happened around 6:30 pm on a Tuesday. During that time, Fatima’s husband had reportedly left their residence for nearby mosque prayers.

Upon his return, he discovered the lifeless body of his wife,  called Amma Buwa, inside their home.

Her hands and legs were bound behind her back, and her two-year-old child was crying beside her, creating a horrible scene.

In response to this grim discovery, the husband promptly transported the corpse to the police station, recounting the disturbing circumstances to the authorities.

The Gwange Police Division subsequently transferred the remains to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.

However, the husband’s account was curtailed when the state governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, ordered an autopsy and directed the police to undertake a discreet investigation.

One of Fatima’s uncles, Shettima Mohammed, who had taken her under his care after the demise of her mother, voiced skepticism about the husband’s narrative.

He expressed a desire for the police to establish the facts, remarking on the tragic loss of both her mother and now Fatima, the only surviving child from the family.

Fatima was just 17 years old when she  married. She was described as a gentle, patient, and compassionate woman and this made her sudden and tragic demise all the more shocking to her grieving family.

“Whoever did that to her is not human. She was strangled, and an iron pestle was used to hit her head. She was bleeding up to the time we laid her to rest, and her head was damaged. Whoever did that was trying to cover up something,” he said.

Asked if she had any known enemy that could attack her, he said, “Ask any member of our family; she’s too good to have an enemy that could hurt her like this.
