According to a new update shared by Crime Check TV GH, Ghana’s most notorious armed robber, Ataa Ayi, who is serving 164 years in prison for various crimes, has been given TV sets to watch the World Cup at his request.
After serving 17 years of his prison sentence, the former criminal who is now a pastor in prison begged for the opportunity to watch the World Cup with his cellmates.
Check for Crime TV GH presented three 43-inch TV sets to Mr Stephen Ofosu Agyare Jnr of Agyare Real Estate. Pastor Ayi’s other requests, a mower and two desktop computers, were also met.
Raymond Ayee Ayitey, popularly known as Ataa Ayi, was arrested in 2005 while drying his clothes at his hideout in Teshie-Nungua. He is regarded as Ghana’s most notorious armed robber.
In an interview, police officials told the Ghana News Agency that Ataa Ayi, 32, was arrested on Monday morning while drying his clothes in a house in Teshie, Accra.
According to the police, ACP Kofi Boakye, Greater Accra Regional Commander of the Ghana Police Service, was directly involved in the arrest.
