The Wema Bank PLC, one of the indigenous financial institutions recently announced the appointment of Olorunshola Oluwayemisi as its new Board Chairman.
Olorunshola is to take over from Babatunde Kasali who is about to retire from the Bank’s services having attained the required age in the industry.

This was made known in a statement released by the company via the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX). Her appointment is with immediate effect. This appointment will definitely strengthen the bank taking into consideration the appointee’s pedigree.
Olorunshola Olurunyemisi joined the bank as a non-Executive Staff in 2022, having once served as the Chairman of the Board’s Nomination and Governance Committee of the bank.
The newly appointed Board Chairman is equipped with over 10 years of boardroom experience and business acumen which she hopes to bring on board in her new office.
Olorunshola had worked with Unilever Nigeria PLC for 15 years before joining Wema Bank. Her experience in various aspects of business such as Supply Chain Management, business re-engineering and process management are what she’s bringing on board to lay bare in the bank.
Dr Olorunshola has been published in many scholarly journals such as the Journal of Functional Education (JFEAcademia), ProQuest. com and Academia. ed among others.
Her publications have also been cited by various Scholars, showcasing her influence in academia.
Olorunshola had her professional training at the prestigious Four Acres Training Facility, Unilever UK, FIITC, Leighton Academy and H. Pierson
With her rich CV, coupled with her wide experience, Dr Olorunshola is set to take the mantle of Wema Bank Board leadership to put it on a higher pedestal for the profit and progress of the Bank.
