Lucky Igbinedion, former Edo State Governor is in the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) net.
Premium Times reports that Igbinedion who was the governor in Edo State until he completed his tenure in 2007 is being grilled at the Abuja headquarters of the EFCC over the allegation of diverting public funds to the tune of N1.6 billion.
A loan obtained by the Edo State government was said to have been diverted to a company in which he had vested interest.
Recall that Igbinedion was prosecuted in 2008 and convicted to have embezzled N2.9 billion belonging to the Edo State.
He was sentenced to 6 months imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to one count which was pruned from 191 charges
Igbinedion invitation by the EFCC was confirmed by the EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren.
