…declares intention to bring Owala Dam and Ibodi Monkey Forest into the limelight
The Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has assured the people of the State of his unwavering commitment to turn Osun’s fortune around by leveraging on tourism as a means to achieve his goal.
He gave the assurance while playing host to the Oloja of Ibodi in Atakunmosa West Local Government Area of the State, His Royal Highness, Oba Colinious Omisade Agboluade at the State Secretariat, Abere.
According to the governor who was represented by his Deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi, “Osun State is blessed with some natural endowments like tourist centres that are second to none in terms of their aesthetic values and their natural settings which are capable of boosting Osun IGR”.
As a result, he said, “we are working round the clock to have a paradigm shift to tourism and counting Owala dam and Ibodi Monkey forest, which serves as an abode to different kinds of monkeys and other animals, worthy of being included into tourist centres fold in Osun State”.
The Governor, however, enjoined all people of the state to continue their support to the present administration saying it is only through this that government can actualise all her formidable frameworks on tourism.
In his response, His Royal Highness, Oba Colinious Omisade Agboluade, the Oloja of Ibodi appreciated the current administration under the control of Senator Ademola Adeleke for his proactive step towards revamping the tourism sector as an additional source of revenue generation for the State. He also thanked the government for counting Ibodi town worthy of being included in the tourist centres fold in Osun State.
Meanwhile, a visitation led by the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi was conducted to Owala dam with a view to ascertaining its status and preparing the government towards making it a befitting site for tourism.
