The Ondo State government has cancelled this year’s June 12 celebration originally slated for Sunday, 12th June 2022. The cancellation was not unconnected to the wicked invasion on innocent worshippers at Saint Francis Catholic Church in Owo on the 5th of June,2022 during church service.
On his Twitter handle, Arakunrin Akeredolu writes:” in honour of the victims of the terror attack at St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, the Ondo State Government has cancelled this year’s June 12 Celebration.”
“The cancellation is to enable the people of Ondo State to mourn their loved ones in the horrific attack”.
Recall that deadly gunmen had last Sunday the 5th of June unleashed terror on Owo when they bombarded St. Francis Catholic Church where worshippers had gone to have their Pentecost day.
The brutal attack left nothing less than 50 people dead and scores injured and admitted into the hospital.
In honour of the victims of the attack, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has ordered all flags in the State be flown at half-mast for seven days, starting from Monday, June 6, to Sunday, June 12, 2022.
