Beyonce and Addidas might have mutually agreed to part ways earlier this week, but the music star already has another fashionable collaboration in the works.
The 41-year-old Renaissance icon announced a partnership with Balmain to create a line inspired by her new album.
The fashion house’s creative director Olivier Rousteing announced the partnership on Friday (March 24) and revealed how it came together.
Olivier explained how he was endlessly inspired by Renaissance, which led to him sketching looks inspired by the album. After seeing how drawn he was to the work, he reached out to Beyonce to propose “an actual, true collaboration between two creators who are both obsessed with pushing their art to the next level.”
She agreed and worked alongside Olivier and her stylist Marni Senofonte to come up with a line of couture creations as “co-designers.”
“From the beginning, we knew that this collaboration was going to be unlike any of the others that either of us had worked on before,” Olivier wrote. “We jumped in, headfirst, with no commercial game plan — for this is a collection that is based completely on our shared passion for melding together music and fashion.”
That made the collaboration even more exciting for him.
“Together, we created this one-of-a-kind couture collection, with each silhouette directly inspired by a specific RENAISSANCE composition,” he explained.
Beyonce also gushed about the opportunity on Instagram: “Designing alongside you was freeing—thank you for allowing me to celebrate the human form, to take artistic risks, to push boundaries and to freely express myself,” she wrote alongside a video of the chic creations.
The news comes after it was announced that Beyonce and Adidas had agreed to part ways, bringing an end to a collaboration that led to the re-launch of her Ivy Park line.
