Oba Adetoyese Olakisan, also known as Oba Ogboni Agbaye, a well-known traditionalist who lived in Imesi-Ile, Osun state,was one of three people who lost their lives in a car accident along Edemonsi/Imesi-Ile road as reported by the Punch on 3rd April,2023.
It was reported that Olakisan, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the Imesi Ile police station, and another victim, who was said to be a woman,were all involved in the tragedy while on their way back from Ila to Imesi-Ile.
However,it was narrated by family members who want to remain anonymous , that Olakisan’s home was earlierbroken into during the wee hours of Monday and that two of his wives were taken hostage by armed assailants suspected to be kidnappers during the sad occurrence.
It was disclosed that a group of security forces were deployed to fish out the perpetrators and were able to arrest one of them.
Followingthe details disclosed to them by the alleged member of the gang, Oba Olakisan, the aforementioned policeman, and a woman hurriedly chased after the kidnappers towards Ila, but unfortunately involved in a car accident on their way back to Imesi-Ile.
Yemisi Opalola, the Public Relations Officer (PPRO for the Osun Police Command, confirmed that rescue efforts had already begun.
She also confirmed that, “the Ogboni leader, the Police OC Imesi-Ile and a woman were inside his (Olakisan’s) car coming back to Imesi from Ila, searching for his abducted wives when they had an accident. The vehicle ran into a tree. It was a lone accident”.
“They were rushed to a hospital, but eventually they all died. Our men are inside the bush to continue the search and rescue mission”, she said.
