Woman Falls into A Well in Kwara State, Dies

 

A 21-year-old woman identified as Hamudat died after falling into a domestic well in Ilorin, Kwara State.

The tragic incident occurred at about 2: PM on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Ile-Kangu Compound, Pakata area of Ilorin.

The spokesperson of the state Fire Service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, confirmed the incident in a statement that the deceased was mentally handicapped, adding that her corpse was recovered and handed over to her father.

“Today, Saturday 5th August 2023, a woman of about 21-years old called Hamudat of Ile-Kangu Compound, Pakata area Ilorin, Ilorin West Local Government Area Kwara State, fell into a domestic well and was recovered dead,” the statement read.

“The terrible incident took place today at about 14:55hrs [02:55 PM]

“The Kwara State Fire Service swiftly responded to a rescue operation at Ile Kangu Compound, Pakata area, Ilorin, where Hamudat, a mentally handicapped 21-year-old lady, had fallen into a domestic well.

“The skilled firemen successfully recovered her and safely handed her over to her father, Alhaji Suleiman Issa.

“The Director of Kwara State Fire Service Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa use this opportunity to advise the general public to prioritize safety, be more careful in their day-to-day activities, and desist from sending underage children to fetch water in domestic well.”
