The Governor of Osun State’s Spokesperson,Olawale Rasheed was a guest at the 6th media Parley of the Osun Online Publishers Association during the weekend in Osogbo.
In his opening speech, Mallam Olawale said he was elated to be present and did not mince words appreciating the Online Publishers for their support to government in following through their programmes.
The governor’s spokesperson says,”We are aware of criticisms from people and we welcome constructive criticisms that can fuel the engine of our government in Osun State”.
According to Mallam Rasheed,”We started on a rocky land but we are now stabilised and now will need more of your support for the government.”
“Our government has come to save the face of Osun without borrowing money from any source, we are bringing rapid development all over the State.”
Osun State is undergoing surgical transformation in various sectors under Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration, which is now in its second year.
Mallam Rasheed did not forget to show gratitude to the people of Osun for their up-to-date support and prayers, which had tremendously contributed and still contributing to the landmark achievements made so far in the State.
While responding to questions from journalists about what the government is doing concerning the delay in the recruitment of The Imole Corps, recruitment of teachers and the like,Mallam Rasheed was swift to reply that all shall be well very soon. “Governor Adeleke will make a public pronouncement very soon,he said.
“Rural roads, infrastructure plans,health,water supply ,would soon be delved into but they cannot all be done within the two years in the saddle.”
About the water supply project, Olawale said,” It is a three-phase project but just one has been executed for now;other phases will follow soonest, he said.
According to Mallam Rasheed, over 150 kilometers of roads have been completed just in these past two years, with several other road projects currently underway!!
The governor’s spokesperson did not forget to mention that drastic efforts will be made to address the challenge of shortage of water in the State by replacing obsolete pipes from Ede Waterworks to Osogbo, drilling additional boreholes in every ward and overhauling the Ora water scheme among others.
While responding to a question on how the government can help to alleviate the transportation cost within the State on the common people by making the Imole bus available at subsidised fares, Rasheed said ,the high cost of petrol nationwide was owing to subsidy removal on Petrol all over the country and Osun inclusive. However,he promised to convey this gesture to the governor for possible application as soon as practicable.
Another milestone of this administration initiative and which is also part of this second year anniversary celebrations, is a new agricultural initiative called “Agropreneur” which will be launched next week ,said Mallam Olawale Rasheed.
The program is designed to boost food production and ensure food security.
Under Agropreneur, young people across all local governments will receive grants and farming tools to start agricultural ventures. The state government will also purchase their produce for processing and sale at subsidized prices within the state, with plans to export some to other regions, which will further stimulate the local economy.
In his goodwill parting message to Osun people the governor’s Spokesperson says in Yoruba Language “Mo ti n bo,mi o tii de o”( I am coming,I have not fully arrived) . Meaning that Governor Adeleke would do more beyond expectations.
