The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has debunked speculation that he endorsed a governorship candidate in Rivers State.
Wike made this rebuttal at the gathering of stakeholders from the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, at his official residence in Life Camp, Abuja.
He stressed that such decisions rest with the Elders Council led by Chief Ferdinand Alabraba.
He, however, reaffirmed his sole political commitment for now as support for President Bola Tinubu, noting that his position has always been clear and consistent.
He warned governorship aspirants against what he described as premature endorsements, noting that no sitting governor has the capacity of imposing a candidate on Rivers State.
According to him, past political mistakes must not be repeated.
The former Rivers State governor urged stakeholders to remain united, stating that their strength lies in cohesion rather than financial influence.
“I have not endorsed any candidate for gubernatorial seat in Rivers State. Such a decision is the sole responsibility of the Elders Council led by Chief Ferdinand Alabraba,” he said.
