Police Urge Vigilance In Borno Over Rising IED Threats

The Borno State Police Command has called on residents to remain vigilant and security conscious following recent incidents involving improvised explosive devices (IEDs) recorded in parts of the state.

 

 

 

 

In a public advisory issued on Thursday, the police warned members of the public to pay close attention to suspicious objects in their surroundings, particularly unattended items in public places.

 

 

 

 

The command specifically mentioned items such as power banks, abandoned bags, nylon bags, parcels, and other unusual objects that may pose security threats.

 

 

 

 

 

Residents were advised not to touch, move, or tamper with any suspicious object.
Instead, they were urged to immediately report such items to the nearest police station or contact the emergency numbers provided by the command.

 

 

 

 

“Members of the public are strongly advised to remain vigilant and security conscious at all times,” the advisory, signed by the Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, stated.

 

 

 

 

It added: “Do not touch, move, or tamper with any suspicious item. Report immediately to the nearest police station or call the emergency contacts provided.”

 

 

 

 

 

 

The police released emergency phone numbers 08068075581 and 08023473293 for quick response.
