The Management Team of the newly established Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun, on Monday, paid a courtesy visit to the Osun state Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola in his office, Abere, Osogbo..
The team, led by the vice-Chancellor of the institution, former Chief Medical Director of the then Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital, UniOsun Teaching Hospital Osogbo, Prof. Akeem Olawale Lasisi.
Other members of the team in attendance are the Librarian, Bukola Olufemi Asubipjo, Registrar, Mr. Kassim Kayode Babamale, and Bursar, Mr. Adelani Adedayo Oyewale.
Prof. Lasisi said the management team deemed it appropriate to visit the Governor and appreciate him for his efforts towards the establishment of another federal university in the State.
The Vive-Chancellor also thanked Oyetola for the donation of five properties for the immediate take-off of the University and provision of land for the development of its permanent site.
Prof. Lasisi noted that the dream of the management as to lead the university to a point that all can be proud of, stressing that the institution could impact positively on the economy of Osun State and its people.
He added that the members of the management team ould deploy their wealth of experience and knowledge to achieve this lofty dream.
In his response, Governor Oyetpla congratulated the Vice-Chancellor and other members of the management team on their appointment, which he described as ell deserved.
He ex[pressed confidence in the capacity of the team to run the University and assured them of the State government‘s support towards the smooth take-off of the institution.
Mr. Governor thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for considering Osun desirable of having the Federal Univesity which the State had been clamouring for. He also congratulated the people of Ila Orangun for the citing of the University in their domain.
He was particularly grateful that the establishment of the University came at a time when the State government was considering upgrading the Osun State College of Education, Ila-Orangun to a degree-awarding institution.
Going further, Governor Oyetola who explained that health is a major flagship of his administration noted that the establishment of the University of Health Sciences would complement his government’s efforts in the provision of quality healthcare to the people of Osun.
