NIgerian Nobel Laurette, Prof. Wole Soyinka, was on Wednesday led members of the National Seadogs Association (NSA), popularly known as Pyrates Confraternity, to the burial of late academic scholar, Prof. Biodun Jeyifo.
NPO Reports that the former Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) President had passed on to glory last month at the age of 80.
.Jeyifo reportedly died following complications related to renal failure.
The Marxist scholar’s death came barely two months after his 80th birthday celebration.
With Jeyifo’s burial slated to hold today in Ibadan, Oyo State, several dignitaries and associates of the late scholar, including Soyinka were in attendance.
Ahead of the burial, Soyinka had arrived at Ibadan and was part of the night of tribute held yesterday.
The Nobel Laurette would make grand appearance at the internment of Jeyifo as he led the Pyrates Confraternity members to the funeral.
As captured in a video shared on Instagram, Soyinka spearheaded the procession of the group, holding a symbolic sword as they gyrated in honour of the late scholar who was also a member of the group.
