The trial of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), resumes today at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
According to NEWSFLASHER, Justice James Omotosho, who is overseeing the case, has placed strict limitations on attendance. Only ten individuals from the defence team are allowed in the courtroom, based on an approved list.
This list includes eight senior lawyers and two of Kanu’s close associates. The legal team comprises several Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs), such as Kanu G. Agabi, Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu, Paul Erokoro, Emeka Etiaba, Mela Audu Nunghe, Dr. Joseph Akubo, Uchenna Njoku, and Aloy Ejimakor.
In addition, Hon. Obi Aguocha, a member of the House of Representatives, and Kanu’s younger brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, have been cleared to attend.
The trial is scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m. As the federal government has closed its case, the court directed the defence to file a no-case submission within 14 days.
Meanwhile, journalists and members of the public remain barred from witnessing the proceedings.
