She also assured that her husband, Oba Akeem Owoade, remains committed to supporting initiatives aimed at empowering women and enhancing their economic prospects.
According to a statement issued in Ibadan on Wednesday by the Alaafin’s Director of Media and Publicity, Bode Durojaiye, Owoade emphasized the critical role women play in fostering societal development, both at the household and national levels.
“As women, we serve as a dynamic force for change. Many have displayed remarkable ingenuity and creativity in overcoming challenges, whether within their families or society at large, thereby creating an environment conducive for democracy and governance to thrive,” she said.
Highlighting the significance of women’s contributions, Owoade noted that with Nigeria’s female population currently estimated at 55 million, their empowerment is integral to national progress.
“It is indisputable that empowering women equates to empowering the nation. Women are indispensable to a country’s development,” she stated.
She further stressed the vital role of women as home builders and nation shapers, noting that beyond their natural sensory abilities, they possess an innate capacity to foresee and prevent crises within their families.
“A wise woman builds her home, while a foolish one tears it down. A woman plays a fundamental role in nurturing godly children and ensuring their proper upbringing. She is expected to be a trusted confidant and a valuable adviser to her husband,” she added.
Owoade, however, urged women to exercise restraint in moments of provocation, warning that careless words could have lasting consequences.
“Even if you are the one paying all the bills, control your tongue when angered. You cannot devalue your household and expect to rebuild it effortlessly,” she cautioned.
