INNAUGURAL SITTING OF PANEL OF ENQUIRY ON POLICE BRUTALITY HELD AT FINANCE BUILDING, ABERE, OSOGBO.

The Panel of Enquiry on Police brutality began its sitting on 12th November 2020 at the Finance Building, Abere, Osogbo at about 10.30 am

The Chairman of the Panel, Retired Justice Akin Oladimeji welcomed everybody present at the inaugural sitting and in a jiffy swore-in members of the panel of inquiry made up of 13 distinguished personalities that cut across major professional bodies, civil societies, and the academia.

According to the chairman of the Tribunal, the panel was not a regular court of law but a fact-finding one. He enjoined all the petitioners to be truthful and honest, not only to the individual, but to state, country, and the world at large. In his words, ’’Be truthful as your memory can carry you’’.

The tribunal chairman appealed to journalists, the regulated and unregulated social media to report only what they see and hear. He assured that no one will go without justice.

Some of the Petitioners were present with their solicitors and their cases mentioned for hearing. Some of the petitioners include Alhaji Ayo Dauda Adigun, Rasheed Ayinla among others.

Meanwhile, according to the Tribunal Chairman, Rtd; Justice Akin Oladimeji, the sittings of the Tribunal shall be held Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays till its term expires.

The tribunal rose for adjournment at 12.05 until Saturday 21st November 2020
