In a bid to bringing a lasting solution to the land dispute between the warring Ifon-Ilobu communities, today the 27th January,2025 was scheduled bringing together all stakeholders for a fresh inauguration of committees to see to the extinction of feud and bring a lasting peace to the communities concerned.
While making his Speech, Governor Ademola Adeleke,ably represented by his deputy, Kola Adewusi, pointed out his heartfelt sadness about yet to be settled crisis in the affected communities despite sporadic intervention by the Osun State government to allow the sleeping dog to lie.
“It’s with a heavy heart that I address you all today on the Ifon-Ilobu crisis. I am really sad that all efforts so far to permanently resolve the feud has not yielded deduced results”,he said.
According to Governor Ademola Jackson Adeleke,the stakeholders in the crisis should remember that peace has always been among humanity’s value.
“We all know that peace is not just the absence of conflicts but the state of actively working together for progress and development”. “Our government is deeply concerned about the communities of Ifon-Ilobu”.
At this juncture, governor Adeleke revealed his administration’s initiative to bringing a lasting peace among the Ifon-Ilobu communities.
….”In a bid to prevent further escalation,our administration has initiated a process that will guarantee a lasting peace in the affected communities”.
“In his words”The new initiative has external leaders as part of conflict resolution team. The goal is to once and for all mediate and finally put an end to the crisis,”the governor added..
However,the Osun governor Ademola Adeleke did not mince words as he sent words of caution to some mischief -makers:
“We particularly warn those masquerading under communal struggle for political agenda to stay away from the issue. We will no longer tolerate playing politics with the lives of our People,he echoed.
The governor therefore ,set up an Enlarged Land Crisis Resolution Committee(ELCRC) in the Ifon-Ilobu Boundary Crisis ,which also include Erin-Osun Community viz:
(a) Each of the affected Communities has 25 Representatives
(b)The State government will also be represented by 25 members
(c) The Ataoja of Osogboland Oba Jimoh Otetunji Olanipekun,Larooye (2nd),and a judge,and Chairman,Osun State Boundary Commission,Justice Moshood Adekunle Adeigbe ,as co- Chairman for the committee respectively.
(d) Four(4) other revered traditional rulers and some other individuals chosen by the government will serve as members of this committee.
The committee has been given a-two week duration to carry out its findings,and submit their reports to the Osun State Government.
