….says, “Join the Battlefield if You Think You Can Compete”
The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has issued a strong warning to former militant leader Asari Dokubo, challenging him to either moderate his inflammatory statements or face the military on the battlefield.
During a media briefing in Abuja, Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, directly addressed Dokubo’s provocative comments, daring him to test the strength of the Nigerian military. “If Asari Dokubo thinks he can compete with our forces, he is welcome to the battlefield,” Buba said, promising that the ex-militant leader would be neutralized if he made good on his threats.
This challenge follows a viral video where Dokubo alleged that two helicopters had flown over his residence for several minutes, which he interpreted as a provocation from government forces and supporters of former Rivers State Governor and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. Dokubo warned, “If those helicopters are shot down, don’t blame me.”
General Buba, however, remained focused on the military’s primary objective, stating, “Our enemy is the terrorists, whether labeled as bandits or insurgents. We’ve neutralized over 300 terrorist commanders in the last three quarters, reducing their fighting capabilities.”
He further urged security agencies to address the Dokubo situation while maintaining that the military is committed to its fight against terrorism, making significant progress in reclaiming territories and disarming terrorist groups.
