Alaba International Market in Flames, Angry Mobs prevent Fire Fighters Dousing the Conflagration

 

Traders reject Lagos fire crew as fire razes Alaba International Market

Shops at the popular Alaba International market in the Ojo Local Government area of Lagos state are currently on fire.

According to PM News, the fire started in a shop where gas cylinders were stored before spreading to other parts.

 

 

However, the Lagos fire crew from Ojo, Sari-Iganmu, and Ajegunle were being turned back by angry mobs from performing their statutory duties. Speaking to PM News on the incident, Adeseye Margaret, Director of Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, said;

“Report reaching Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service indicates shops at the popular Alaba International Market, Ojo, Lagos are on Fire.

However, Fire Crew from Ojo, Sari-Iganmu, and Ajegunle are being turned back by angry mobs from performing their statutory duty. But fire fighting trucks are presently on standby. The agency is consequently collaborating with Security Agents to address it.”
