Nigeria’s Apex court has upheld the victory of Ademola Adeleke, candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the Osun governorship election The Interviews Nigeria reports.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) today Tuesday 9th May 2023 declared Senator Adeleke the winner of the July 16, 2022, Osun governorship election.
While reading the lead judgement, Justice Agim of the Supreme Court affirmed that Oyetola failed to prove over-voting in his Appeal, as the BVAS machines are the basis for proving over-voting.
Also, the Supreme Court held that the Election Petition Tribunal breached Adeleke’s rights to fair hearing and its decision is therefore a nullity.
The Supreme Court, to this effect, dismissed the Appeal of the APC and Oyetola for lack of merit.
