He smokes, drinks alcohol in a harmful manner and bleaches  with  use of steroid  containing creams.

 

He is  in his late twenties , presented  few weeks ago on account  of cloudy  vision of 6 months  , prior  presentation  in outpatient  clinic.

Examination of eye revealed  a whitish  opacity  of the lens in both eyes, that is CATARACT and usually  present like  looking through  a frosty window.

 

He had  a illness perception  that it was   a SPIRITUAL  ATTACK but he was  counseled  on the relationship    of his lifestyle (smoking, alcohol use and steroid abuse) to  the emergence  of CATARACT  despite  his young age!

 

He accepted the ophthalmologist  intervention  for his case.

 

Couple of  unhealthy lifestyle  are risk factors to disease in clinic.

 

 

 

Be aware  of  your life style and possible  health problems that may arise. It is not always(’’AYE-pathy’’) (witches and wizards) as  he believed!

 

 

 

By the way , other risk factors to CATARACT are:

 

  • Increasing age
  • Diabetes
  • Excessive exposure to sunlight
  • Obesity
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Previous eye injury or inflammation
  • Previous eye surgery

 

 

Be  guided  in your lifestyle . CATARACT  can be treated  through surgery
