According to vanguard newspaper, the Angwan Kari community in Keffi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State has been plunged into grief following a brutal midnight attack that claimed the lives of Mr. Williams Wasiu Jimoh and his wife, Mrs. Banke Williams Jimoh. The tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, April 6, when unknown armed men stormed the couple’s residence, resulting in the death of Mr. Jimoh and the violent assault and subsequent death of his wife.

According to accounts gathered by this reporter, the couple were at home when the assailants gained entry into their apartment under the cover of darkness. Details emerging from eyewitnesses and community members suggest the attack was not random.

The location of the house, described as isolated, and the gruesome nature of the injuries sustained by the victims have fueled suspicions that the crime may have been premeditated.

The attackers reportedly subjected Mrs. Jimoh to a violent sexual assault before fatally slashing her neck. Her husband, Mr. Jimoh, who sustained severe injuries, was rushed to the hospital but later succumbed.

Pastor Lee Ngbede, the Keffi Zonal Coordinator of the Fellowship of Christian Students (FCS), spoke to our correspondent about the victims.

“Brother and Sister Jimoh were committed members of the FCS here in Keffi. The situation surrounding their gruesome death remains a shock to the entire Christian body in Keffi and the state,” he said. The couple’s deaths have not only shocked the community but also devastated the local Christian fellowship where they were active members.

It was Mrs. Jimoh’s father who first raised the alarm after repeated phone calls to the couple went unanswered. His concern led to a family friend visiting the couple’s home, only to be confronted with the horrifying scene. A witness recounted the state in which Mrs. Jimoh’s body was found, describing it as a deeply disturbing sight.

“The police said from all indications, the woman was raped to death. After that, her neck was also slashed, and it was practically dangling,” the witness said, his voice heavy with emotion.

Owing to the extent of the assault and the state of decomposition by the time her body was found, Mrs. Jimoh was laid to rest on Thursday, April 10.

She was buried with her body wrapped in cloth, as the nature of her injuries and the position in which she was found made conventional burial arrangements difficult. Her husband, who had remained unconscious in the hospital, passed away days later. His burial has been scheduled for Wednesday, April 16.

At the time of this report, no arrests have been made, and investigations by the Nasarawa State Police Command are ongoing.

The community continues to call for justice, urging authorities to intensify efforts to apprehend the perpetrators of the heinous crime. As mourners gather to remember the lives of the slain couple, the tragic event serves as a grim reminder of the vulnerability of residents in isolated areas and the urgent need for enhanced security across the state.
