Successive governments have found it a herculean task to remove oil subsidies. It may not be because they were not willing to do or sincere to carry out the necessary surgical operations in the oil sector but because of some greedy and wicked shylock Nigerians in our midst.
Oil subsidy removal definitely comes with its attendant challenges of inflation, high cost of domestic products, foodstuffs and all other aspects of human existence.
However, if the government will show a human face by bringing about a relative slash on tariffs on utilities such as Electricity, transportation and investing in agriculture, with time we shall become the giant of Africa that we are called and known to be in the past.
