The Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has reiterated his administration’s avowed commitment to rejig all sectors of the State through ICT.
Governor Adeleke made the promise in his address at the unveiling of the State Digital Economic Policies and the Flag- off of Osun State Broadband Fibre Optic project implementation in conjunction with the Ministry of Science Innovation and Technology held in Osogbo to mark his one hundred days in office.
The State Executive Governor stated that any country intending to progress must romance the technological advancement being practised in developed nations.
He assured that in line with the new National broadband policy which Osun state is adopting, the state is waiving payment for Telecom and returning to free connectivity to schools and health centres when the broadband optic project is completed.
The State helmsman, who subsequently signed the MOU with Oodua Infranco Limited, to commence immediate deployment of Fibres across the State, stated that a fifteen member Digital advisory board committee would be inaugurated to oversee the transformation of Osun into a digital economic State.
Speaking separately at the event, former PDP chairman in Osun Mr Sunday Bisi, Barr. Kolapo Alimi, Media Assistant to the Governor on ICT, Mr Sola Isola commended the Governor for the initiative aimed at putting the state on a sound footing.
They noted that the development will no doubt fastrack the economic growth of Osun owing to the benefits derivable from the policies.
Earlier in their separate remarks on the essence of the gathering, the Coordinating Director, of the Ministry of Information Science and Technology, Mr Jimoh Adekilekun, Director of Technology in the Ministry, Mr Lateef Ajiboye, commended Governor Ademola Adeleke’s love for technological and digital economic advancement which culminated into the approval of implementation of Technological Innovation, ICT, & Digital Economy Agenda by the Governor.
