Hon. Chinyere Igwe (Member House of Representatives) arrested in the early hours of Friday morning in Port Harcourt with alleged over Five Hundred Thousand US Dollars ($500,000.00) which he claimed was given to him by one of the Presidential candidates hopeful. This is indeed a good development from our able security operatives on ground .
Also recovered was the list of those to share the money with.
The police Public Relations Officer of Rivers State Police Command Iringe-Koko confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Friday.
This also makes it obvious that vote buying during this electoral process will be heavily “Dollarized” despite the scarce Naira. What a desperation with the political desperados!
Those who have also been secretly reimbursed but yet to be discovered are as at this morning considered innocent !
It is however, foolhardy to think that things of this kind have not been taking place underground despite various jingles, sensitisations not to allow money to be the driving motivator of our elections.
This portends to show that Nigerians and the politicians do not really have confidence in themselves to win in a free contest.
The implications of this “big catch” is that ,it is not “yet Uhuru”.
Big kudos to the security operatives that made this ‘dollarized catch’. One would just say they should open more their antennas for more catch,tommorow being the D-Day.
