Osun State Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Sesan Oyedele has paid a working visit to the premises of the Nigeria Railway Corporation in Osogbo to see facilities for himself.
This is a result of the directive of the Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, asking the Commissioner to draw up a plan for the rehabilitation of the railway track from the Ibadan end to the Osun border with Kwara state.
The Commissioner, who went in the company of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Hon. Yakubu Adejare went round all the facilities at the premises.
Hon. Oyedele inspected the condition of the rail tracks as well as the office complex for members of staff.
Speaking shortly after the inspection visit, the Commissioner said the Governor is in a hurry to transform Osun State into a deeply economically connected State, hence the Governor’s directive.
He averred that with a functioning railway system in the State, economic and commercial activities will no doubt receive a boost which will, in the long run, translate to improved revenue generation for the State.
The Transportation Commissioner, while commending the foresight and good plans of Governor Adeleke for the transport sector in the State, stressed that a well-functioning railway system will reduce the burden of heavy-duty vehicles on the road and make them last longer.
According to Hon. Oyedele, “You are aware of the Governor’s directive, he wants me to draw up a plan for the rehabilitation of the railway track from Ibadan end to Osun border with Kwara state and that is why I am here.
“Mr Governor wants me to take action immediately and we are not going to waste time further. I have gone around this facility, and I have been briefed by those in charge of this place.
“Very soon, all the dreams of Governor Ademola Adeleke concerning the rail transport sector will be achieved”, Hon. Oyedele stated.
