APC Council Chairmen Empowered Security Personnel In Osun State With 300 Motorcycles

 

 

The Chairmen of Local Government Councils in Osun State,under the umbrella of all Local Governments Association of Nigeria(ALGON),Osun State Chapter,today 14th April,2026 officially empowered security personnel in the State with 300 Motorcycles for the efficient and effective security network monitoring in Osun State.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

While delivering his speech at the epoch making occasion at the open pitch of the police headquarters,ring road,Osogbo,the ALGON Chairman,Hon. Idowu Abiodun said, ” this event is not just about the handing over of equipment; it is a clear demonstration of our unwavering commitment to the safety, security and well-being of our people”.

According to ALGON Chairman,” Security remains the bedrock of any meaningful development.Without peace and stability,no society can thrive and no government can achieve its developmental goals”,he said.

 

 

 

Going further,Hon. Idowu said,that he’s proud to say that Local governments remain closer to the grassroots.
“Iam proud to affirm that Local Governments remain the closest tier of government to the people.We understand the peculiar security challenges within our communities,and we are we are determined to support all necessary efforts to address them effectively.

 

 

 

Hon. Idowu thumbs up for the initiative which Was a direct product of growing autonomy of Local governments.

 

 

 

 

“When local governments are empowered to manage their resources,set their priorities,and respond swiftly to the needs of their people, the impact is immediate and far reaching.

 

 

 

 

According to the ALGON Chairman,”In the past, limitations in financial and administrative independence often constrained the ability of Local governments to respond proactively to pressing challenges such as Insecurity.

 

 

 

However, with increased autonomy,we are now better positioned to initiate and execute people-oriented programmes such as this distribution of motorcycles.

 

 

 

 

 

“The provision of these motorcycles is therefore,not only a security intervention but also a practical demonstration of the effectiveness of Local governments autonomy in Nigeria”,he said.

 

 

 

PURPOSE FOR EMPOWERMENT:

The ALGON Chairman stressed the importance of motorcycles distribution:
The motorcycles we are distributing today will enhance mobility,improve response time, and enable our security agencies to access to difficult terrains, particularly in the rural and hard-to-reach areas. This initiative is aimed at strengthening Community policing and ensuring that no part of our State is left vulnerable,” he explained.

 

 

ALGON Chairman,Hon. Idowu Abiodun,took time to applaud the security personnel in Osun State for their selfless service laced with dedication to duties:

 

 

“I wish to commend the dedication and sacrifices of our security personnel. Your courage, resilience,and commitment to duty continue to inspire confidence among our citizens. We recognise the risks you take daily and today’s gesture is a token of our appreciation and support for your invaluable service”. He however, concluded that security is a collective responsibility.

 

 

 

TAKE HOME FOR BENEFICIARIES

 

The beneficiaries of the motorcycles were charged to deploy them judiciously and maintain them adequately.

He said,”Let them serve the purpose for which they are provided-protecting lives and property,and promoting peace across our communities” he Counselled.

 

 

 

The ALGON Chairman commended all the Stakeholders for their support and also appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for championing the struggle for the actualization of Local Government Autonomy.

 

 

Dignitaries at the occasion included Chairmen of Local governments in Osun State, high ranking security personnel, traditional rulers and chiefs,the Media,National Orientation Agency(NOA) officials and a host of others.
