The Nigerian-born Surgeon, Dr. Oluyinka Olutoye, made global headlines when he performed one of the most extraordinary surgeries in modern medicine.
At just 23 weeks of pregnancy, a baby was partially taken out of the womb so that doctors could remove a life-threatening tumor.
After the surgery, the baby was carefully placed back inside the mother’s womb, where it continued to grow until birth.
The groundbreaking operation, performed at Texas Children’s Hospital in the USA, saved the baby’s life and is considered a milestone in fetal surgery.
