New Recruitment of Amotekun Corps in Osun Is A Hoax- Adebayo Adeleke (Banik)

Today Tuesday 8th of April witnessed the 8th Edition of Osun Online Publishers Association (OOPA) Media Parley at it’s Secretariat Olonkoro,Osogbo having the Former Commissioner For Local Government And Chieftaincy Affairs,Price Adebayo Adeleke-a.k.a Banik as the special Guest.

While making his opening remarks  Banik was emphatic about the recent recruitment exercise of the Newly recruited Amotekun Corps in Osun .

According to Banik,”some applicants involved in the exercise ,having stayed long in the training camp, partcipated in the recruitment exercise and drills but were sent out  of the camp and denied   placement because ‘somebody’ brought in  a new set of people to replace them!! When people questioned the veracity or rationale for sending those people away, the response was”those sent away  would still be reconsidered”. He therefore said the recruitment exercise was a hoax.

AGRICULTURE

The former Commissioner , Adebayo said,” Osun State is known as  an agrarian State but the government impact is not felt in this vital sector.” According to Adebayo farmers are not empowered or given access to purported purchased tractors for agric. purposes.

According to Banik, information had it  that the tractors said to have been bought by Osun government was 148;later,they said it was 178 and later displayed 30. The question is where are are these 30 tractors for the State?

” The tractors are not beneficial to Osun farmers despite the orchestration of it’s purchase and the governor’s chorus  that the tractors will be subsidized,he said.

EXTRA BUDGETING

According to the former  Commissioner for Local Govt. and Chieftaincy Affairs , Adebayo Adeleke, governor Adeleke’s administration is engrossed in extra budgeting to the detriment of the State.

“You could imagine the weight of the budget of some ‘agencies’ under this government. The budget of ‘agencies under governor Adeleke, according to the former Commissioner is ₦38b in comparison to the ₦19b of the President of the Federation!! Whenever you asked them to name the agencies being referred to,it could not be substantiated.

RENOVATED HEALTH CENTRES BY FORMER GOVERNOR OYETOLA

According to Adebayo, 332 health centres were renovated in Osun State under the immediate past governor of the State,Gboyega OYETOLA.  But it will amaze you to hear that governor Adeleke removed all the plagues on the renovated health Centre bearing the names of OYETOLA and replaced them with his name as the executor of the project. This is verifiable in these health centres across the State,an example at Ada township among others!!

FRAGILE SECURITY IN OSUN STATE

On how security fare under governor Adeleke’s watch, the APC stalwart says,” what goes on in Osun State as far as Security is concerned is like  that of Boko Haram Insurgency ravaging some other parts of the country “.

Banik is touched to the marrow of the killing of the former Chairman of Irewole Local Government Hon. Remi Abass during the political turbulence that engulfed the State when trying to implement the Court of Appeal Ruling, which he believed reinstated  Council officials elected at the verge of Oyetola’s Administration.

He condemned the killing of Abass and others including the  unwarranted communal crises between Ifon-Ilobu/ Erin Osun communities. He specifically mentioned the insecurities of some communities in the State- Mention was made of Egbedi, Esa-Oke,Ido-Osun, Ifon/Ilobu/Erin -Osun

According to Adebayo (Banik), thugs had a field day in Egbedi sometimes ago where AK-47 riffles were freely used on innocent  people. Also in Esa-Oke police officers were killed because of disagreement on the choice of a non- indigene  installed  as King in the town.

In his assessment of the security situation  in the State, “wondered what is happening in Osun State, when the governor has not deemed it necessary to meet with the traditional rulers in their domains over the insecurity in these warring communities, but instead  allowed a proxy to represent him.

In his words”Adeleke refused to sit with the Traditional rulers . That’s a failure in governance capacity. How can you be a governor and not meet with your traditional rulers in a time of crisis”, he

queried.

“Governor Adeleke is working contrary to the oath he sworn to, to  protect lives and properties of the people of Osun. Now,the situation has escalated and boomerang unlike when former governor OYETOLA handled the situation shrewdly during his   tenure”,he said.
